As of FY19, Hall Councils do not receive a budget, because SFC does not fund bulk costs, but can come in for funds on an ad hoc basis. Along with programming and events, Hall Councils can request funding to purchase:
TVs and mounting brakes for lounges
Cost to have the TVs installed was also included
Ping Pong and Foosball tables
Pool tables were all donated
Equipment for each
Cleaning supplies for kitchens (e.g. dish soap)
Please note that the funds are for the Hall Councils. RAs are not able to use these funds.
The following items should not be purchased by hall council, but by ResEd:
Pianos or tuning of pianos
Work out equipment in South or Kahn
WHAT IS THE STUDENT FINANCE COMMITTEE?
The SFC, 7 senate-appointed student representatives, works for the student body in allocating the Student Activity Fund to all Oberlin student organizations and individual student projects. SFC members meet multiple times a week to review budgets, vote on allocations, and vote and discuss policy, lead working groups with student organizations, and hold office hours to serve as a counselor for students seeking guidance about funding and student government.
